college football Moments of greatness

highlights of the greatest moments

reggie bush on a different level

Reggie Bush’s 2005 performance vs. Fresno State was legendary. He totaled 513 all-purpose yards, including 294 rushing on just 23 carries. His biggest highlight was a breathtaking 50-yard sideline cutback run. Leading USC to a 50-42 win, this game sealed his Heisman Trophy and remains one of college football’s most electrifying performances.

vince young 2006 national championship

Vince Young delivered one of the greatest performances in college football history in the 2006 BCS National Championship vs. USC. He passed for 267 yards, rushed for 200, and scored 3 TDs, including the game-winning 8-yard TD run on 4th down with 19 seconds left, leading Texas to a 41-38 victory and cementing his legend.

the stanford band "the play"

The Stanford Band Play, also known as The Play, is one of the most chaotic and legendary moments in college football history. On November 20, 1982, Cal used five laterals on the game's final kickoff return to score a stunning TD against Stanford, winning 25-20. As Kevin Moen crossed the goal line, he ran through the Stanford Band, which had prematurely stormed the field, creating an unforgettable, wild finish.

2013 iron bowl "kick six"

With the game tied 28-28, No. 1 Alabama attempted a 57-yard FG as time expired. Auburn’s Chris Davis caught the short kick in the end zone and returned it 109 yards for a walk-off TD, giving Auburn a 34-28 victory over their biggest rival.

This stunning play instantly became one of the greatest moments in college football history.

the "miracle at michigan"

The "Miracle at Michigan" happened on September 24, 1994, when Colorado QB Kordell Stewart pulled off one of the greatest Hail Mary plays in college football history.

Down 26-21 to No. 4 Michigan with just six seconds left, Stewart launched a 64-yard bomb from his own 36-yard line. The ball was tipped in the end zone and caught by Michael Westbrook, giving Colorado a 27-26 walk-off victory as time expired.

This legendary play cemented Stewart’s place in history and remains one of the most dramatic finishes in college football.

2007 fiesta bowl

The 2007 Fiesta Bowl between Boise State and Oklahoma featured one of the greatest endings in college football history, with Boise State using three legendary trick plays to stun the Sooners 43-42 in overtime.

  1. Hook-and-Lateral – Down 35-28 on 4th-and-18 with seconds left, Boise ran a perfectly executed hook-and-lateral, tying the game with a 50-yard TD.
  2. Halfback Pass – In OT, Oklahoma scored first, but Boise responded with a halfback pass TD to keep the game alive.
  3. Statue of Liberty – Instead of kicking for a tie, Boise went for two and ran the Statue of Liberty play, where QB Jared Zabransky faked a throw and handed the ball behind his back to Ian Johnson, who ran untouched into the end zone for the win.

Boise’s upset of Oklahoma remains one of the most thrilling finishes in college football history.
